The tip of the retractor is placed on the proximal caudal edge of the tibia and the femoral intercondylar notch is used as a fulcrum to cranially lever the tibia with respect to the femur
It can also be useful to help reconstruct fractured long bones by manipulating fracture segments into anatomical alignment for fixation
